Distillers Modified Wet Grains

Distillers Modified Wet Grains with Solubles is the product obtained by condensing and drying the stillage remaining after the removal of ethyl alcohol by distillation from yeast fermentation of grain or grain mixture. The coarse fibrous material is separated from the soluble and finely suspended portion by a centrifuge. The liquid fraction is concentrated by evaporation to syrup which is then

combined with the coarse fibrous fraction. The feed is rich in cereal and residual yeast proteins, energy, minerals, B-vitamins and growth factors. Fermentation of the starch results in a three fold concentration of nonstarches such as proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins. In addition protein, vitamins and growth factors are further synthesized by the growing yeast cells during the fermentation process and are included in the residue.

Storage and Handling
Distillers Modified Wet Grains can be readily kept for 3 – 20 days depending upon ambient temperature and with proper management. A preservative is available upon request. The product is free flowing and it is recommended to store in a concrete minibunker. Minimize daily surface exposure and locate storage site to minimize effect of precipitation. Long or short term storage can also be achieved through the use of plastic silo bags. Distillers Wet Grains is best fed in a total mixed ration.

Use and Application
Distillers Modified Wet Grains are an excellent protein and energy source for all ruminants and can readily comprise up to 20% of the ration dry matter (10 to 15 pounds per head per day, maximum). Consult a nutritionist for proper feeding recommendations. It is a medium protein feed with 120% of the energy value of ground corn. The protein in Distillers Modified Wet Grains is a natural protein and recognized as a feedstuff with one of the highest proportions of digestible insoluble protein. It is a very palatable feed and is safe to feed in large quantities.
