Ethanol is a fuel component utilized to enhance performance properties and to abate exhaust emissions of gasoline. It is a renewable source of energy that is very benign to the environment both in its production as well as in its use. Typically, product specifications dictate that it be very dry (less than one half of one percent water) and free of other impurities.

ASTM specification sets forth more detail with respect to the requirements of the marketplace as to the quality of the material.
Ethanol is in a class of chemicals called oxygenates. Such compounds contain the element oxygen as part of their molecular structure, meaning they are part oxidized; thus, fuel oxygenates provide natural enhancement when blended into gasoline, with the result that exhaust emissions are notably cleaner through more complete combustion. The beneficial effect of oxygenates is amplified owing to their very high octane rating, whereby they replace and dilute toxic octane enhancers in gasoline, especially cancer-causing aromatics. The only two significant oxygenates are ethanol and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE).
100% of the ethanol produced at Midwest Ethanol will be sold and distributed through Aventine Renewable Energy.
MEPI will incorporate the Services of Aventine Renewable Energy, Inc. into its ethanol marketing / sales. Aventine Renewable Energy, Inc supplies more than 500 million gallons of the nation's growing ethanol needs as the second-largest producer and marketer of ethanol in the United States.
With production and distribution points throughout the Midwest this puts them in the center of the production and shipping hub.

Aventine has over 900 Rail cars that each have a capacity of 29,000 gal/rail car for, has National Contracts with all of the major class 1 rail roads, Union Pacific, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Canadian Northern, CSX and CPRS.

Aventine has positioned themselves in 43 shipping Terminals with over 28.7 million gallons of storage. The Magellan Pipe Line System supports the Midwest furthermore Aventine has located themselves in all 25 Terminals that offer Ethanol and 6 of those they are the sole supplier.
