and initial samplings “are looking good.”
Bravo said the engineers at Olsson Associates will report on the stability of the soil on the site six miles east of O’Neill.
Formal Ground breaking will be later this summer.
              He said the site has been an ideal spot for the plant since it was discovered a little over a year ago, and has access to highway 20, electricity and rail. The site was one of three selected in Holt County that was suited because of infrastructure for the ethanol plant.
The samplings also are crucial for the 4 miles of railroad track that will be laid in the area off the North East Nebraska Railroad.
              The soil boring is the initial step toward construction of the plant, which will begin later this summer.
              “The field may be empty now,” Bravo said. “But it won’t be long before you’ll see more excitement in that field. We’re building the largest ethanol plant made today and we can’t wait to get started.”
              Holt County Ethanol, Inc. is in the process of development and construction of a $140 million, 100 million gallon-per-year ethanol plant to be Located East of O'Neill Neb. Projected ground-breaking is on schedule for mid-summer 2006, with completion November or December 2007.

Phelps County, Nebraska Chosen as Site for $140 Million Ethanol Plant

Holdrege, Nebraska - April 10th, 2006 - Phelps County Ethanol, Inc, a subsidiary of Midwest Ethanol Producers, Inc. (MEPI), has announced it's plans to build an ethanol plant on their acquired 140 acre site in Phelps County, Nebraska, just 2 1/2 miles Southwest of Holdrege.
M.E.P.I. is head quartered in O’Neill, NE.
              The Holdrege plant will be permitted to produce more than 100 million gallons of ethanol each year, along with 256,000 tons of dry distillers grain(a high protein cattle feed), and will consume more than 35 million bushels of corn annually.
              The plant will provide 45 professional, skilled and semi-skilled employment opportunities, with compensation packages averaging $52,000.00 per year including benefits.
The plant will pump millions of dollars into the local and area economies through higher wages, contract and sub-contract labor, sales and property tax revenue, improved infrastructure, and higher corn prices for farmers.
              Technology will be Vogelbusch and Engineering by CJ Schneider Engineering Co. out of Omaha. Both companies have recently completed Cornhusker Energy in Lexington, Nebraska.
              Phelps County Ethanol, Inc., is in process of submitting all the necessary permits utilizing the services of Kleinfelder of Omaha, NE and has chosen Aventine Renewable Energy, Inc. to handle the ethanol marketing duties, while Olsson Associates of Holdrege will take care of the geotechnical and materials testing.
              Ground breaking is scheduled to be late in the 4th quarter of 2006, with production slated for the 1st quarter of 2008.
              This will be the second planned plant for Midwest Ethanol Producers, Inc. They are currently in the permitting stages for a 100 MMGY Plant in O'Neill, Nebraska.
