ships (1 aircraft carrier, 2 guided missile destroyers, and a destroyer tender). During his stint he visited 14 foreign countries. John’s Naval Career not only provided relative engineering experience, but also the opportunity to take in many different cultures.

After the military, John found relative work in the civilian world hard to come by in the Midwest, so he enrolled in Radio and T.V. Broadcasting School in Minnesota in 1994. Upon graduation, John began his radio career at KBRX Radio right here in O’neill, Nebraska. After 2 years, John moved to locations in Grand Island, Omaha, Gordon, back to Grand Island, Chadron, and Alliance before getting out of radio and into ethanol.

His duties in radio included news, weather, sports, commercial production, and sports play-by-play (wrestling, football, basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball). His radio experience is a perfect fit for the public relations portion of his duties with Midwestern Ethanol Producers. During his 12 year radio career, he worked almost 2 years at Cargill in Blair, NE as an Ethanol Technician which equates into valuable direct experience in the ethanol industry.

John is very excited about ethanol in general, joining our team from the ground level, and moving back to O’Neill where he and his wife can be closer to their families who live in Atkinson, David City, Hastings, and Omaha. John’s wife is Sheila and they have a 6 year old son Johnathan.
